1965 425 or Toro oil pan ID question

I have a 1948 Cadillac that has a 1965 425 olds engine in it. The dip stick is definatly not the correct dipstick but someone had ground a mark on it at the 5 quart level. I verified this mark with a fresh oil change. There is another ground in mark a little higher on the dipstick that may be a 6 quart level.

I would like to know how to determine if the oil pan I have is actually the original 5 quart pan for the engine or if it is a 6 quart pan for a Toro engine. What should I look for on the pan?

I really dont want to run this engine without enough oil in it nor run it with too much oil.

email me at: gwfisher@ca.rr.com

thanks
