1957 98 Olds trunk lids
According to the GM parts book, there are three different part numbers for trunk lids for the 1957 98 series - one for the Holiday Coupe, one for the convertible, and still another for the 4dr sedan and Holiday 4dr Sedan.
Does anyone know what exactly are the differences between these three lids ? Is it dimensions, or something else ?
Thanks

On a 55 super 88 convertible compared to a super 88 (don't know about a 57) the trunk is different because of the space needed to conceal the top and mechanism so that would change the dimensions of trunk lid. I suspect the difference between a 88 and a holiday would be because of the difference in roof line dimensions changing the area of the back deck and then the trunk lid dimensions. Just a guess on my part, others may have a better answer..... Tedd

If you measure from the front centre of the lid to the bottom lip centre, the sedan is shorter than the coupe. As for the convert difference, I don't know. The sedan rear windows are taller top to bottom than coupes.

Thank you both for your information. I suspected that the total length might be the difference, and my sedan trunk measures 53 1/4 inch top to bottom in the center. Can anyone out there measure a coupe and a convertible for me ? I need to replace my rusted out trunk lid, and I want to be sure of the correct measurement before buying. Thanks so much for your help.

My coupe is 58 inches... Couldn't reply yesterday because I was having trouble with Classic Olds internet.
