To buy or not to buy.......that is the????

Hey C/O already have 2 olds in the driveway but found a 65 Dynamic 88 convertible. Runs and drives. Complete car, solid floors, not much in terms of body work. Strait bumbers with good chrome. Needs a new top and seats/door panels to be re done. Can get it for under 1000.00. Any thoughts or is this a no brain-er.....

It sounds like a heck of a buy. But, you really need to think about what you are going to do with it. If you have two Oldsmobiles sitting in your driveway now, when are you going to get to it. Most cars do no do well sitting outside and convertibles do even worse. At that price you could probably flip it and make a little money on it. You don't want to buy it and let it sit there for 2-3 years and then sell it because you never touched it. We all love our old cars but sometimes it is easy to get our butts overloaded. Of course it is your money but I would just give some thought to it.

Thanks guys, I'm going to see what kind of deal I can make and will view the car today. Ill post some pics. As far as it sitting for 2-3 years.....Not gonna happen. My 70 is 95% done and the 73 just needs paint. I think what may end up happening is the 73 gets sold to put the $$ into the 66. If I had a choice between the two I think id lean toward the 66. But there's nothing wrong with having 3.

"Life's too short to drive boring cars"--greatest car quote ever. Think about it this way. Would you rather buy it, or regret not buying it down the road?

Agreed, but you have to consider the flip side, too. If you spend the money today, you won't have the money tomorrow when that even better car comes along. Sometimes patience is a virtue.

Hi Guys. Hope I can jump in for some help to. New to this site and also buying a car. I have found a 1973 Delta 88 2 door in nice shape. Good paint ,new tires, nice inside, good chrome . Runs very nice the engine has been cleaned up and almost spotless. Now the bad things. The top has a rip in the side about 4 in. long the chrome trim around the back window is missing clips are there. Do you think Its a good deal at 2700.00?

Thanks

Did you go look at it Curtis? Same one I looked at today, with the patched floor boards, rust in the trunk and quarters. Metal replacement was started but not finished on the fenders. Needs new rubber before it can hit the road and probably going to need rings at the very least, maybe a bottom end rebuild in the foreseeable future.

It looks better in the photos...rims have corrosion on them, rear bumper's alright but the front one is a bit tweaked and chrome starting to flake. Pitting on the front grill, headlight bezels and a lot of the other trim. Dash pad is destroyed and the list goes on. Car is a complete project.

For a hardtop? Maybe. Is it a 350 or a 455? Can you post some pictures?
