Jeff, I am getting a 404 error on the link.
Perhaps my brother and I can make it out Saturday, just had a kid so time is thin but I'll try to bring the '88 out.
I'll let Al know, he's in Alsip.

Hi. I have a question. What is the club's stand on car tributes or clones? When I bought my 1970 Cutlass it was already cloned as a 442. Since then I have played with idea of removing the numbers and replace them with the proper emblems. However, other enthusiasts and friends advise me not to bother about it. I like how the car looks and feel that the numbers give character to it.

Don, It's an Olds cruise night so we'd be glad to have you stop by. There is no judging so at the cruise so there is no emphasis on correctness...

Thanks. However, my gut feelings says that the correct thing to do is to show the car as a modified 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I would rather attend the July meet for I am getting the car ready for a car show on Sunday. Definitely, you will see me and my "442" soon.

The weather looks good (I'll believe it when I see it ) Mary and I will drive up to Elk Grove, visit her brother, then hit the show. Next day we're jumping on Route 66 and heading south. We'll see how far we can get before she has to be back at work.
Dalilama, will I see you there?

I can see your dilemma. Whenever I tell people I have a '71 Cutlass the reaction is always the same; "A 442 ?!?" I think you have to decide what you're comfortable with.

Went through the same thing when I re did my Cutlass. Mine is a Cutlass (left original badges) with a 442 look. I went back and forth as I already had all the 442 W30 badges and decided to sell them. I went through the clone thing before with a Chebby and decided against it. I just list it as modified. A lot less questions to be answered. Besides, It's faster and handles better than the original 442.

Ditto. My Cutlass is actually way better than an original 442 (but I might be biased LOL). So my project for next year is to make some improvements to the paint scheme and put all the CS emblems I already bought. Im happy to know I am not alone on such a dilemma.

Hey Mac - we got family coming over earlier in the day but I hope to be there, even if I have to drag some with me! Looking forward to some good weather for a change!

I missed this a second time in a row, and I can see Demon Dawgs from my house. I knew about it this year but had a family event that took priority. I was there at around 9:10 pm and it was cleared out with the exception a nice Toronado and a nice g body Cutlass. Hopefully the next time around I can finally meet you guys.

Truth be told! I had plans to go to a big car show at schepel dealership in merrillville which was from 7:30 till 2:00pm, pending being on call for work I was thinking about making the ride to Pulaski utilizing side roads and staying off the express way. However, plans changed when I got about 2 miles away from home at 8:15am and the car stuck in second gear. So I limped it back, jacked it up unlocked the linkage, backed out of the garage and it did it again. So I sobbed for awhile then jacked it up again looked at all the slop in the shifter, removed ithe mechanism from the car. You know there is 18 peices to just the hurst shifter alone without the linkage or the shift arm. Anyways, I ordered a rebuild kit should be in late in the week or early next week.
I've had the problem a couple times in the past sticking and adjustment worked for a year or two but now it's time to rebuild it being over 40 years old. I see they have another meet in Tinley Park soon may try that one!

Sorry to hear that, Sean. Having trans trouble myself. But like you, I knew it was coming.
I'd love to see your car in person!

It's off of North ave. Should be on the South / East side of the River.

The COC hasn't got back to us with details. But starts at 5.00pm
