North Texas Olds Club 2015 Zone Show

Start making your plans early. April 17-18, 2015, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Granbury, TX. Judging Saturday in the Hotel parking lot. Cruise later that afternoon. Awards dinner at Bob and Carol Ann's hanger at Pecan Tree Plantation, as was last year. More details to follow, as they become available.

I would not miss this one. It was a blast this year. I will be sure and reserve my room early enough this year. This is a fun deal in a neat little town. I encourage you to come if you have not been. Good folks and good fun.

I must be the only person on earth who does not "get it" or know the story on what Run To Rund means. Look forward to finding out at Granbury.

I just finished installing the underdash AC in my 54 this afternoon. I have been working on this project for about 6 weeks. It also involved pulling the heater core and having it fixed. I have to take it to McCains in Richardson and have them make the hoses and charge the system. Then I will have a heater, defrosters and AC. I am looking forward to the Zone Show. Good times.

I built the re-creation of the 1966 Rund Olds race car from 12 cars worth of parts, coordinated with the original racer who raced it at the 2007 OCA Nationals. The dealership motto was "Run to Rund for your Oldsmodeal" and the car had/has Run to Rund painted on the sides. The car had full articles in Dec 66 and Feb 67 Hi-Perf. Cars magazine issues, with a color centerfold in the Feb issue--the only Olds stocker to ever have a color centerfold in a national magazine, afaik.

I LOVE that line Rund To Rund For Your OLDSMOdeal. I am a fan of Mad Men, and you can just picture that slogan being dreamed up by some advertising agency and then someone else saying - "Yeah! We should have a race car with that line on it!!"

The weather forecast is not promising. I was planning on heading down tomorrow but that is very doubtful now. If it rains out I will be very disappointed. Right now the chance of rain in Granbury is 80% Saturday afternoon. Of course this is Texas and the weather can change in 30 minutes.

The weather is up in the air (excuse the pun), so far the weather folks have gotten it wrong this week. Maybe it will bypass us this weekend also. I'll be out tomorrow around 11.

Eric:

I have been checking the weather at weather.com but that is not as good as boots on the ground. I have to cancel my hotel reservation by 9 in the morning or pay for it. If it is iffy I will probably cancel and plan on coming early Saturday if the weather permits. Please post updates and keep us posted. Nothing better than boots on the ground.

Thanks

But i would love to see the cars and meet some of you. Maybe next year, or another event this year. Yall have fun, be safe, and go easy on the Chebbys and Furds.

The weather for tomorrow doesn't show anything for us, Saturday it may rain late in the afternoon around 6-7:00. Like I said previously, they haven't been right all week. I'll post in the morning. Again, hopefully we'll get lucky.

Well the sun is shining and the birds are chirping this morning in the Bury. The weather forecast shows for showers both Friday and Saturday in the late afternoon/ evening. However I'm going to reiterate the weather folks have been wrong so far this past week. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Right now we are planning on coming on down today. I am guessing we will get there around 1:00 - 2:00. See you then. Looking forward to a great time.

I took a picture of I believe every car that was there. I will try to get them downloaded and post a link or sent them to Eric and let him post them. In spite of the weather we all had a good time. The folks at the Hilton Garden Inn could not be nicer.

It was an awesome show and in spite of the evening storms, I believe all had a wonderful time. I couldn't take pictures as my phone was almost dead but will assist in posting pictures if necessary. We had some great cars for everyone to look at and a great crowd of local gawkers strolling around. A high five to the NTOC for organizing the venue, also one for Bob and his wife for setting up and hosting the awards dinner, and another to Keith for coming up with another great after show cruise.

Here is hoping this works. I just opened a photobucket account and successfully downloaded my pictures from the show last Saturday. Let me see if I get the link right. Here goes:

Hope you do. It is really a fun time. The weather was a little cantankerous this year but it did not stop us from having a good time.

Eric, I just went through the pictures again and realized I missed your car. I am going back and see if I missed it in the download. I am very sorry.
