Oldsmobile in Gran Turismo 6
Hi all. I figured some of you will appreciate this.
An Oldsmobile will finally be included in a Gran Turismo game.
It's Jay Leno's 1966 Toronado, which has been converted to rear-wheel-drive and boasts north of 1,000 horsepower. I'd much prefer a stock version, but beggars can't be choosers, I suppose.

That's awesome!!! Looks like the graphics are really well done. I might have to buy a PlayStation just for that reason... After all ( no joke ) I bought a Xbox 360 JUST to play Forza 4 because it had a 69 Hurst. lol.

This machine was done right. Im sure there is a youtube on the build. The Big Dog crew and others finely tuned this sucker. Jay was afraid of it at first. Yes north of 1000hp (~1070) with the twin hair dryers spooled up. It has C6 vette drive-line and chassis components in it, torque tube, trans axle and all (C6, Aluminium 427 Le Mans prototype with ethanol injection!) Yes it now has a floor hump. They brought out track width too so now the wheels fill out the wheel wells rather nicely. Much better look than OEM. Killer color too. Two thumbs up!

Jay had the original Toro designer David North in the restoration video on this car. According to David, they knew they had nailed it if the general reaction was "hated it" or "loved it". There was no in between there, but it also meant the car was a loser in the commercial sales division. The overall feature that really set the car off was the rear wheel flares. Consumers Guide downgraded the car especially with the idea it had bad brakes Oldsmobile hired Louie Unser to drive the Toro on the 66 Pikes Peak challenge. Nick Sandborn also used a 66 Toro to win the Pikes peak challenge in 66 with a winning time of around 14:25. Once the car proved itself there, it was bona fide as a performer with style, power and stopping ability. But sadly the market for these cars really wasn't there in the early years.

That is awesome! I didn't know they had a Hurst Olds in that game. As for Gran Turismo, it's the best racing game of all time, in my opinion. I don't play video games anymore, but did for a short time when GT5 hit the stores. Once I finished it, I put the PS3 away again. Too bad there aren't a few 442s in the new GT6 The 68 - 72 cars would be nice to use.
