Yup, I try and keep my business local but ran into that when I did my front end. I even got pricing from autozone and o'reiley. Hands down even with freight rockauto was the least expensive for Moog.

When I lived in MA I used a place in Quincy and they were top notch. Once they got to know me I paid what the local repair shops paid.

FWIW, I recently had to buy a bunch of gaskets and miscellaneous other stuff.
I priced out NAPA and Advance Auto, NAPA was more, but only a little.
I checked RockAuto, and their prices were lower, but once shipping from three different warehouses was added in, the difference wasn't enough to keep me away from the local stores (less than $10).
Finally, I noticed that Advance Auto was having an on-line sale and I got everything for 15% less than the store price, with free shipping (which put it well below RockAuto), and a $25 gift certificate for the next time I need to buy some oil or whatever.
Keep your eyes open - there're deals all over.

I still use the shop account from the old shop i worked at . Since they used a corporate store as long as i know the account number i can shop any corporate store . So i usually end up getting my parts at shop pirce which aint too shabby.

Google "advanceauto coupons" and it'll give you 40% off in most places for even local pickup. Sometimes they get you with "unavailable in store" but if you're willing to wait for Rockauto, it doesn't matter.

Another way to save on line, especially with advance, is to go through a site called ebates.com....Its free to sign up, and if you go through their site to advance...you end up with 6% cash back, in addition to advances deals.Ive gotten over 200.00 back in the past year ordering stuff from advance and lowes through them.

I tried Rock Auto after I won a $25.00 gift certificate at a local car show. After I paid the shipping I saved about $7.00 on a $90.00 order....
My local NAPA and Federated stores here are cheaper than the O'Reilly's and they can order parts in the AM and have them for you by 1:00 PM... I buy some speed stuff on-line and get race car parts from a couple other suppliers. The rest are all local buys...
