Thornton exhaust manifolds..... gaskets ?

Hi guys,
I just got some new repop exhaust manifolds from thornton ( w & z).
They say I don't need gaskets but can use them if I want.
I have the gaskets.....anyone use/not use gaskets with these and
does it leak ?

I've had better luck re-tightening bolts with lock washers than using gaskets - I've had gaskets blow-out.

The factory didn't use gaskets. If the repro manifolds are as flat on the mating flange as originals, there's no reason to use gaskets. On the other hand, the gaskets won't really hurt, either. It's just more scraping if you ever have to take the manifolds off.

I don't use gaskets either if the surfaces are nice. If you have gaskets now and you then don't use them, Make sure you get all the old gasket off before mounting them.
