My favorite part of having a 55 Olds is parking it next to a modern luxury car like a Lexus or Mercedes. People who walk by don't even see the new cars; just the old classic. A lot of people don't know what make the car is, but they know they like it. My father didn't drive a "jelly bean", either.

There is a nice low mileage 55 four door HT up for bids on Ebay right now. If only I were a millionaire with a large garage!

Why, Yes I do. Sorry I took so long to respond. Didn't see your question earlier. I saw yours and thought the same thing. If you have any questions, my car is absolutely original stock.

Kids have grown up a bit since the picture.

thank you! S41-60 is the same as mine. I have "Trim numer 378".

So we both have S41 (panama blue) and 60 (polar white)
Question 1: is your panama blue original or has it been repainted? Does it have any flake at all in it?

Question 2: Do you have any idea what the color codes are for the interior? When you look at the interior blue, does it match perfectly with the S41 panama blue? or is it different?

If you can see by my interior, it is all so faded i cannot tell what colors things are and what they are supposed to be. Finding that specific info on this rare car is difficult

Yes, Mine is a base 88 Holiday, nothing extra, no options. Even your door panels and arm rests are different. My window cranks have plastic on the ***** vs. your chrome.

I do have details on the interior colors, but not at the house. Up in the garage. I can get to it in the morning.

In the mean time,
1. Panama Blue, it is original, never been painted, I hope to change that, it's getting pretty thin. No flake at all. However, some of the interior window frame pieces seemed to have a darker blue, with some flake.
2. The interior blue is different, it doesn't match. I do have the codes, but again up in the garage.

I'm currently trying to match the color of the kick panels and rear cardboard deck and speaker grill to paint. I have new kick panels, and the rear deck is in good shape, just no color left after 60 years of sun. I have a very good part of the old kick panels with original color.

If you want we can start another thread for your interior.

I understand completely...i'm trying to do the same, but mine has all faded, shredded and worn...starting to look like Ace Frehley's jock strap from 1978.
You don't have to dig through your attic just for me for the paint codes. I am going to redo my interior and based upon what you said, i won't worry about matching it exactly to the exterior paint.
I have a build thread in the "Projects" section where we can talk paint codes, like you said

56 98

Can I add mine to this thread? I have just posted my intro & have a couple of 56 98's to add to the list.
A 98 Holiday sport coupe, pretty much finished other than re chroming front bumper and a Starfire convert long term project that I am slowly working through (this is a basket case but the only 1 in New Zealand, the sport coupe is 1 of 2).

Kiwi,
Beautiful 98 Holiday. My first Olds was an 1955 88 Holiday the same color. (Still my favorite color. I had a 55 Chevy the same color. One of my friends said the only reason I bought the Olds was I already had paint to match it.)

There is something I find particularly appealing about the big box Olds, but my dream Olds is still a 1962 Starfire convertible. I can't afford one, but if anybody who has one wants to leave it to an appreciable in their will, I'm in Missouri.

Good luck with your new restoration. Looks like it is in good hands.

kartman24 Here's hoping you can keep your 56 for a long time, give it some TLC. These old cars are wonderful drivers if the suspensions are in good shape. I bought my first 55 Olds in 1966. Wish I had never gotten rid of it. I finally have my second one and hope I can make it as good as the first. Don't think I'll be getting rid of this one. Hope you have a good new year.

Welcome Kartman. I have a windshield that came out of my 54 convertible. It has one small rock peck on the drivers side. I saved it hoping somebody could use it. You can check but I don't think it will fit the 2 door sedan. If it does, I will let you have it for the time and expense it cost me to crate it. If you find it will fit, I can take a couple pictures and send. I think we would be looking at something less than $100.

I finished installing my rebuilt treadle vac yesterday. I had the car out in the drive today dusting it off and going over it with some Quick Detailer and some Formula 303 on the interior. The drive is on the front of the house. When I went back out there was a guy probably older than me (I am 67) on his bicycle with all his riding gear taking pictures of my car. He said he had a hardtop the same color back in the day. He said it was one of his 2 favorite cars. He had had a lot of cars including a Hemi GTX. I actually took the car out for a short drive with the top down. Brakes are working good.

1955 88 2 door sedan, in the process of having brakes completely rebuilt to get through the registration process here (Australia).

I'm currently getting ready to sell my other Aussie built car (1977 Ford) in order to make space for the Olds - given my somewhat limited garaging facilities!

Bye from Aus.

'56 Super 88 Holiday. Mostly original with 33k on the clock. Been in the family since the late 80's. My Grandpa had it repainted in '90 and never put the trim back on. Its pretty much sat most its life.
