Depends on if you ever plan to use the wipers for cleaning the windshield... Yes, I have a fluid reservoir on my car - most of us do. What kind of car do you have that you're not sure about replacing it? ALL the post 60 Oldsmobiles came with washer bottles from the factory if that helps.

Of course I have one. I don't know anyone who doesn't.
Would you prefer to stop the car every so often, get out, and wipe road grime off the windshield, or to press a button and have the washers rinse it off?

Lol, well Eric, You just met your first. Mine was all rotted out and I removed it. Eventually I may put one back on, just not a hi priority at the moment. To answer your the OP's next question it's not a hard or expensive project.

Well, I guess maybe the conditions are different down there in Texas.
Here in the Northeast, I wouldn't drive five miles, even in the summer, without working w/s washers (though, if I recall, you're originally from Long Island, so I think you know what I mean ).

I do know what you mean. Although not from Long Island, but close - grew up inYonkers NY, and Central and South Jersey. Most of my driving here in Texas is short trips, 7miles round trip everyday to work. Car shows max 1-1.5 hour drive. I carry a can of glass cleaner and a rag.

Hmmm, Don't you love it when I answer my own question? I see there is a plastic reservoir for the ww fluid, and I know how brittle they get over time. My OEM one tanked too. So now I guess I need to ask this: Why would there be a glass jar for 'optikleen' and a reservoir also? Does that mean Olds also installed HD washer pumps and wiper transmissions expecting heavy use of the wipers??

Kevin, are you asking about the plastic washer fluid reservoir hooked into the windshield wiper system, or the triangular glass storage bottle like in Allan's post?
I think the glass bottle came on all cars with factory installed windshield washers. It is just a container for Optikleen (washer fluid), is all. Your washer jug ran out away from home, you had the Optikleen bottle to refill it. Then you either refilled the storage bottle or bought a new one. I have bought Optikleen in triangular plastic bottles too.
I see a lot of people misuse it by putting radiator antifreeze in it. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! You put washer fluid in it- preferably straight so it doesn't freeze and bust in cold weather.
Does your F85 already have the mounting bracket for the glass bottle? you can barely see it in the back of Allan's pic.

I was talking about the triangular glass bottle guys. Mine has just arrived and It is great, I don't know what happened to the old one but I knew I wanted one because that empty bracket in my car made me feel like it was missing.

Great. I had a few NOS brackets if you needed one, but sounds like car already had it. Did you get an original bottle or a repop? All the original ones I've ever seen had
ADELL CHEMICAL CORP DETROIT MICH PATENTED cast into the bottom of the bottle around the edges, with RD CANADA 1961 in the center.
Just remember- WASHER FLUID goes in it, not green glycol antifreeze.

Pictures, young'un! Pictures!
Fusick or other decal vendors should have the Optikleen label for the bottle and I think at one time they had repop caps too. All the GM carlines used them so there was a pretty good market for them.
I'll hazard a guess that over the last 50 years or so, someone put plain water in the original and it froze and busted. At one time I was scarfing up every good one I found in junkyards. I'm down to the last two and I guess I'll hang on to those.

Optikleen wiper fluid reservoir bottle placement
I have a 67 442 convertible 4 speed. The car did not have the wiper fluid triangular reservoir bottle, but I have purchased one from The Parts Place. Can someone tell/show me where this bottle was to be located I didn't see any reference to it in the service manual.
Pics would be great
Thanks,

A Cutlass Supreme based car should have had deluxe wipers- 2-speed w/ washers. Look on your inner fenderwells for a pair of holes or dimples a couple inches apart and in line with each other. Should be close by the washer fluid reservoir.
Just curious if those repop bottles come with a bracket?
