warm air from vents set on cool
Any ideas why warm air would come out when set on cool vent. It does get hotter when set to warm but it feels a lot warmer than outside air when set on cool vent. It is a 70 442 with a/c. A/C not charged. Just wanted to get outside vent air not heated.

On a warm day, if you are not really moving, air through the firewall or heater vents will be warmer than outside air.
On a cool day, it will be slightly warmer, but you won't notice.
In A/C equipped cars, the A/C system should activate a hot water valve when set to "Max Cool" or when the Temp lever is all the way at the cold end, which will close off the water supply to the heater core, and allow the vent air to be a bit cooler.
Unless you start off with the hot water valve closed before the engine warms up, you will not notice any cooling effect in closing it later on.
