It's typical nowadays for URLs to be superimposed pictures to identify the owner (or at least the originator). This person just did it in a nice, unobtrusive way...

Excellent pictures, Scot. Do you know what the 57 Olds is a pace car for? Couldn't be Indy, that was a Merc.

Holy cow how young is that guy. Is that a Pace Car wagon? For one it's not a convertible, and it looks like there's a roof rack on it. How cool would that be. I'd love to see a wagon pacing the race some time.

It also sort of looks like the right front bumper/fender corner has a bit of a ripple in it.

1972 Chicago Auto Show

1970 Chicago Auto Show

A modified 1970 Cutlass Supreme coupe was unique enough to be highlighted on a rotating exhibit inside the Oldsmobile exhibit. The Olds Cutlass lineup was restyled for 1970, so GM designers had some fun and create a one-off Cutlass with special trim to help draw the crowds into the Olds area. Based on the mid-size Cutlass two-door hardtop, this eye-catching custom wears a fully padded white roof that replaces the side quarter windows, and the wire wheels and pencil-thin white wall tires are elegant, but also non-stock.

The "Mod Rod"

1966 Chicago Auto Show

1965 Chicago Auto Show

Oldsmobile’s dream car in 1965 was a one-of-a-kind 4-4-2 convertible equipped with a 400 cubic inch engine. Other performance goodies include large four-barrel carburetion, twin exhausts with chambered tonal tail pipes and other heavy-duty components. A restyled grille and front end devoid of bumper, along with “dished” chromed wheel discs distinguished the custom Olds from production models. The show car was finished in a deep-lustre bittersweet red with matching leather upholstered body-contoured “ astronaut” seats.

1958 Chicago Auto Show

1957 Chicago Auto Show

Two men examine an Oldsmobile J2 Rocket V-8 engine that was 371 cubic inches and produced 277 horsepower. The engine was displayed in the Oldsmobile exhibit area. The man on the right is J.F. Wolfram, vice-president and general manager of the Oldsmobile Division.

1954 Chicago Auto Show

Ronald Reagan, future California governor and 40th President of the United States, served as the Grand Marshall at the 1954 show. The sign on the antique curve-dash Olds states that the 1904 car was built the same year the Chicago Auto Trade Association was chartered.
