My friends Buick is finally done & on the road!
Just some background here. I started the restoration of my 72' 442 (clone) in 2009. I got to know the guys who run the shop very well and we all became fast friends. This allowed me to use the shop on nights and the guys would help on weekends. This saved a lot of money on the restoration and I got to meet some very good friends. This brings me to Leo. Leo had two Buick Skylarks both from California. He bought them over in Metro Detroit just across the river from Windsor Ontario where we live. When I brought my Olds in the frame was shot and it had rust in the fire wall, toe pans, floor pans and under the dash by the defrosters. Leo sold me his California frame and any other metal parts I needed for just about nothing. When my car was ready to be re-assembled we both worked on it every night and weekends to get it done. He even gave me his set of 1 year old BFG/TA's.
Any way Leo started his restoration last summer. Since his car was much cleaner than mine it did not take as much time. It was a Skylark Custom 350 4 barrel that he cloned to a GSX 455. The car turned out really good. We spent the last half of the summer putting it back together. This past Friday 9/16/11 was the first night out for the Buick.
I know it's not an Olds, but it is a cousin and Leo is a very good guy. Enjoy!
