I bought another olds
My dad and I picked this up today, 62 f-85 cutlass. I found this on craigslist not long ago and pretty much had to have it. So I got the money together and bought it. I am actually suprized my dad let me get it, but he likes it too. And he is letting me keep it in the garage. The guy I bought the car from sent me these before I decided to buy it. I will take more once I start getting into it, but let me know what you think.

I don't think a 425 would work too well without extensive engine bay/suspension/transmission well modification. It's about twice the weight of the aluminium V8 and cannot bolt up to the stock transmission, meaning a TH400...which requires extensive modifications to the floor pan, I believe. Plus, the big engine will kill any decent handling characteristics these cars have. The weight distribution will be off, you'll surely understeer and plow, and the brakes will be completely overmatched, not to mention the driveshaft and differential. The front suspension would have to be considerably beefed up to withstand the weight, which might be hard, as the aftermarket options for these cars are few and far between.
You can enlarge the Buick/Olds/Rover V8 up to 5.0 liters (302 CIDish), and at that size, it will make plenty of horsepower. Just remember, no 425 ever got put in a TVR, or won F1.

My first car back in '73! Actually it was a f-85 Cutlass, Maroon w/white top. I went through 3 engines and two transmissions with that car I beat it so hard. You could carry the 215 short block around the garage because it was so light!
Nicest looking car in the junk yard when I left her.
Not too many around anymore. At least I don't see many of them. Good luck with this one.
