Damaged my quarter in the wreck!!!
Do you guys think it would b better to repair it or just replace it!!!!

Replace the 1/4. It would take a hell of a metal man to fix that.

its depends if the car is your long term keeper and how much money you want 2 put in it!! if its a keeper weld in the small area dont replace the hole qtr thats 2much work and costs alot more, if its not a keepr work the medal back into place as close as possiable and fiber glass the hole a GOOD fiber glass job will last 10++ years, if you want 2 know how 2 fiber glass it 2 last ill walk you threw it

Get a new 1/4. Half the top dollar cars out there have new quarters so what the heck. It'll be smooth, no nicky (or bondo as you guys call it) and they ain't expensive. Go 4 it

DONT have a rookie do it!! if its your keeper than replace part the quarter dont replace the hole quarter its 2 much money and work!! replacing just a piece is pretty easy, ill pm you as soon as my lap top is fixxed

I would repair it. Your not going to find a full 1/4 for less than $1000. If you were to replace it, you would need a full 1/4 because of the damage to the jamb.
You definatly need to take it somewhere so they can weld a tab on the jamb and pull it out. Then shape out the metal and weld up the hole. It can be done with a minimal amount of filler. Also, the new polyester fillers will handle more build than the older "bondo" of yester-year before cracking or peeling occur.
Its not that bad. Probably a day's worth of work to put in prime. JMO

That door jam is what really bothers me!!!!!!
I found a quarter at a decent price but it only goes 1/2 inch inside the jam!!!!!!
I gotta make my mind up real soon cause she"ll be back mobile in a week or so!!!!

Fix the jamb with a piece from a donor car and get an aftermarket 1/4 to fix the rest. You'd be crazy to sink a ton of money into it for an NOS 1/4. Post a "wanted" ad here for the piece around the jam. You'll get it for less than $100 including shipping. Unless you have a MIG welder I wouldn't try it yourself.

When they flatbedded my car to my house after I bought it they put a strap over the body because the body wasn't connected to the frame. When it bounced on the springs it crushed the 1/4 at the top. I found a donor piece (mine happened to be a complete parts car) & butt welded it in place. You could hardly tell it was done after I welded the piece in.

If the Qtr. had any sign of rust, I'd say replace it - but it seems very solid!
Even the door is repairable - if you coud find a new NOS doorskin.
The shop I used to manage could do a perfect job, as could a lot of good shops.
We used to give a 5 yr guarantee - look for one of those!
Is there insurance involved?? That's about a $2500 hit, at todays prices - more if qtr. replaced, including paint.

@ Allyolds68, I don't have money for any NOS so it would be aftermarket!!!!
That really what I wanna do if it's gonna cost nearly as much to have a good metal straighten this one!!!!!!
But like I said, it's that jam that scares me!!!!

I guess I look at things a little differently because Iv been a body man for 27 years? To me, thats not that bad, and very repairable.

Agree with WTony - not that bad!!!!
Example:
'84 GP hit in the rear by SEMI - pushed Qtrs almost to roof!! Missed the bumper competely.
Only bought the rear panel, trunklid, and both t/l assy's - BODYMAN STRAIGHTENED BOTH QUARTERS!! Did use the frame machine to pull, but saved them, nevertheless!
There are some real good guys out there!!

The yards will cut a qtr. anyway you want - the price to cut yours off, trim and weld on a used one, finish and paint could cost $2000 + parts and material! Including the jamb.

I'm not gone find a 68-69 in the yard around here!!!! (STL)
So my plan was to order an aftermarket quarter from flEaBay!!!
Problem there is they only go 1/2 inch inside the jam!!!!
Now the jam I would have to hunt down!!!
I saw 1 but the seller wants IMO to much!!! ($200 + shipping)

as stated multiple times, a "quality" body man could fix that.

no matter what, your car needs to go on a frame rack and be pulled, so i hope you have the new door already so the person has a good line to pull to.. anyone that can visualize how the panel went in, can usually get it to walk back out.

not to mention, if you remove the back seat, interior panel, quarter window, regulator and tracks, you can get right at the damaged area to do any kind of hammer/dolly work. hell, you could probably jack alot of that out with a porta power. if anything, a patch will have to be made to replace the area that is torn open. but that hardly warrants putting a full quarter on it. those repo 68 quarters are a TON of work to install.
