Milling heads ?

I have a question on my 461. It has L2323f speed pro pistons (10 to1 ) with Edelbrock heads and the piston is .010 in the hole at TDC . Would it be a good idea to cut the heads down .030 to .040 to increase compression or will it create other issues ? Cranking compression seems low (145 to 155 Lbs. cold) on a 2000 mile motor , and I'm hoping to gain some power with outgoing into the short block. Any help or advice may help save a build from becoming a parts garage sale !

You don't mention how big your cam is, as the overlap has a direct effect on your cranking compression.
I've noticed a great 'seat of the pants' power increase just by advancing the cam 2 degrees with a cloyes chain and gears!
And even easier than pulling the heads!

I guess cam specs. would help... It's an Ultra Dyne grind # OL 288/298-09H. Duration at .050 231 int. / 239 exh. and gross lift is 517 int. / 525 exh. The cam was .5 degree advanced from cam card spec. (cam has 3 degree advance ground into it.)

Sounds like you're over 10.5:1 already without milling.
