W-30 hood clearance

I have a concern about hood clearance using an original W-30 steel frame hood , reproduction air cleaner , Q-jet carb. , and an Edelbrock Performer intake. Do I need to cut down the Performer INTAKE to get good seal to the hood or just trim down the foam seal ?

not sure why you would want to trim the intake, if the fit is that close just let the foam seal get squished

I've never tried it but over the years I've head repeatedly the performer will not fit under the OAI hood. Together with the carb and correct air cleaner top it's too tall. The O4B which is no longer being manufactured is an aluminum intake that will fit, but I've also been told the flow characteristics are not much better than the cast iron. It is much lighter though.... John
