The end of the lock cylinder has a small rectangular bar projecting from the end of it. This bar (about 3/16" x 1/2" cross section) passes through the lock mechanism and should be visible from inside the trunk. Grab this bar with a pair of pliers and twist counterclockwise (as seen from inside the trunk) to unlatch the latch.

On two 65 parts cars I had I crawled in the trunk and unbolted the latch from the deck lid.

should be able to turn, then lift up. You will probably have to do what TK suggested if it is sticking.

Ditto, only I've done it on '67's and '69's.
I couldn't fit through the opening in the bulkhead behind the back seat, so, I put together
3 or 4 feet worth of 3/8" extensions (enough to reach the bolts in the catch) with a 7/16" socket.
I reached through and got the socket on the bolts on the catch that way.

Could it be binding? Maybe have someone lightly push down on the lid while you try to turn the lock lever. ---bil

Just remove the back seat and get a extra extra long extension and un do the Bolts-(2) holding the lock mechanism on the inside of the trunk in place. They will fall down in the trunk and the trunk will open. I did it just a while back when my lock broke. Good Luck.
