I have a 1970 cutlass supreme holiday sedan I have been haveing two issues one is that when i shift gears the car jerks it is automatic im not sure if thats normal or if somethings wrong my other issue is that while driving there is a constant creaking sound I am not sure if it is the suspension or something to do with the frame or if it is something mechanical I know that there is alot of knowledge here and someone may have faced the same issue keep in mind everything on the car is original and old haha so any ideas would help thanks. its semi frustrating this is my first pre 2000 build and already im lost

The car may be ideling to fast. Also the U joints may be shot? The creaking sound, mat just need a grease job, or need front end work.

With the car sitting, do you hear the creaking noise if you bounce up and down on one of the fenders?

1. Could just be the sway bar bushings need to be greased.

2. Maybe metal-to-metal contact, one of the springs and the upper/lower cups.

3. If you do not hear any creaking, try to push the rear of the car down by the rear bumper (trunk open). I had a Cutlass once that had an annoying creak, and it turned out to be the bumper bolts! Little turn, a little WD-40, and the problem was gone. Also, do the same with the hood open, push up and down on the core support, and listen for any creaking.

4. May also be an exhaust/hangar shaking and causing the creak.
