Why is my car not like my car?

Ok I have 2 Oldsmobile Custom Cruisers. Today I was working on both of them when we noticed that the 87 has the engine mounted slightly off center to the passenger side. Where my 84 has is mounted dead center. What's the deal?

Sounds like bad mouts to me. They should both be dead center.

Did they change anything around the driveline to accomodate something? Older Mopars have the engine and rear off center, looks weird.

Many engines are mounted slightly off center, seems it was done for the steering linkage.

That doesn't sound right to me either. I would check the motor mounts too to make sure they aren't bad.

Same frame, same block, same motor mounts, same frame mounts. Stop reading header catalogs...

Ok I checked out the mounts and they look good. I put a board under the oil pan and jacked up the engine and the car lifted not the engine so I think they are fine. BUT the mounts on the frame(clamshells) look higher on the drivers side. Are the holes in them sloted? I am going to try to loosen the bolts and level it out then tighen them back down.
