I believe that Oldsmobile owners are above that kind of thing. We don't need to prove anything to anyone because everybody...I mean everybody... wishes they had an Oldsmobile.

I dunno man! Those Ford Festivas are pretty boss! I wouldn't want to meet one on the drag strip.

Yeah, I wish I had an Olds.... Have had 3 though.

I think there is a good amount of competition between Olds and Chebby myself. Probably some towards Fords too, but not that I've seen. I'm the proud owner of a Furd myself, pretty dang solid, quality, American built car if you ask me. But they were never able to quite match the beauty and muscle of an Olds, IMHO. I'd trade this 'ol Thunderchicken in any day for a classic Olds. Late 60's-early 70's 98, 88, Vista Cruiser, Custom Cruiser, Cutlass, etc.

All in all, as long as it's made on U.S. soil, these old cars are all great to me. Except Chebby's are waaay to expensive. They're like the Macintosh of cars--idiotproof, but 3-4x more expensive. Hell, as long as it's not a Datsun.

Couldn't have said it better. It seems to really tick people off when their Olds gets called a chevy.

Years ago a coworker called my 69 H/O a "Judge". When I got pissed off, he started doing it regularly...

As for "enemies", how about people who put Chebby motors in Oldsmobiles (and I include the factory on this one!).

I would have to say Chebbys. If one more person asks me what year my Chevelle is I will come out of my skin. A buddy of mine has a Buick Skylark that is cloning into a GSX Stage I, I thought we had a hard time finding parts! Try looking for Buick parts. So if Chebby is the competetition I would say Buick owners are our allies...good post. Like someone else on the post said, I like all older cars. Theres good in every American brand.

I think you guys need to go work on your cars, hit the track, or get laid or something...

"who are our arch enemy's?" LOL.... Who are you, a super hero?

I don't think i've even thought about something like that since i was in Jr High.

I'll agree with the guy at the top- "Time" is my biggest enemy- But I sure do Love it when I get some of it :-)

i love the superior gadget's above my friend's 69 charger
i have discbrake (pitty they dont'make them) electric window's and top,
powerbrake, converteble, electric frontseat, etc.

he hase no powerbrake ( i think) and brake drums an a lot less on his charger.
but it still is a nice car to. Only mine handles better

But i like the most old usa cars,

I prefer olds, he is a mopar fan so what, showed him olds has a hemi engine to.
( never told him it was only to see in the museum)

After wondering over to teamchevelle.com,I think that the concensus that we reached here about chevelles is dead on, looks like they think their chevelles are superior for some reason, because theyre more expensive? so next time you pull up next to one,try to give it some kind of disrespect and i dont mean physically!

I must have missed that thread on TC.... Of all the message boards i'm on, those guys are probably the LEAST concerned with brand loyalty- I think there is at least 3 or 4 from there on this site as well...

So I think i've decided that I'm going to be your Arch Enemy since you seem to need one.

Bluto to your Popeye
Cobra Commander to your GI Joe
Joker to your Batman
Jon to your Kate

Now excuse me while i return to my secret lair to brew up with some dastardley plans that you can try to foil (that is afterall your responsibility as the arch enemy... )

IMO I'm gonna say Rustangs with just plain 'ol rust running a close second.
Oddly enough, one of the quickest and flat out baddest cars I've ever owned was a 91 Rustang lx coupe. I hate them because I had over 12K in the thing and couldn't hardly give it away when it came time to sell it! I've outgrown all that now!

I would have to say rust and Fords in that order. Please don't say chevelles because it would be like beating up your cousin. I know, I left NYC in 1979 for California in my 66 SS396 ragtop partially to get away from the snow/salt nonsense you have to put up with back there. The chevelle is in the garage right now for repairs, but having it doesn't mean I don't love my 442, I might cruise the chevelle back east this summer and if someone offers me the right price, the 442 might be the only one left.

DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! what's not to like about Bluto.. or if your old enough brutus..LOL... I took Rambow suggestions and I feel quiite narly now LOL...

The Only thing I can think of is Barrett-Jackson hyper inflating the price of cars, to a point where it is so overpriced you need to be a fool or a fanatic. I love looking at the cars mind you, but geez I saw this lady buy a remake of a barney fife mobile for like 125 K knew right then and there we aren't alone in this galaxy what planet she came from who knows...

it has made finding parts so hard and when you do find them it's like american pickers no man that isn't a rusted fender it is rusted gold!!!! yeah right...

I'd like to change my nomination for Oldsmobile enemy #1. Barrett Jackson has done alot for the value of the cars we all love, this is very true. But at the same time they have driven up the prices of the ones we'd like to buy and fix up til we can't afford to do it anymore.
Two thumbs down for Barrett Jackson, and I thumb my nose at their snobbery.

Kid Kutty,

Is that YOUR 442 that was in Popular Hot Rodding in your signature???
It's the same picture but with a photochopped front end there......
This guy is in Crystal Lake out by me, and I've been wanting to see his car.

After reading the article, I'm not quite sure if I just witnessed an epic burn, or a genuine compliment.

Actually I just realized he has a photo album called "Inspiration" with this 442 in it , so it's not his.
Not to mention Kid Kutty is in Califas which is the Latin way of saying California.

I think this car is siiiiiiick too, if I ever get a chance to get up there and see it (30 mins north) I'll get some more pics for ya.

Potentially our own govt. Many want us to drive tiny pieces of junk and would confiscate our older cars (and some not so old cars if they have a V8). These same people get chauffeured around DC in fancy SUV's.

No enemies

Cars and women...there is something beautiful in every single one.

You just need to know how to look.

So as far as arch enemy to an Olds. I don't see it.

No enemies down here. People don't even know what it is, except that it's some kind of American car with a 442 ci engine cos that's what the badges say. And it doesn't matter what kind of car the other enthusiasts drive, they all like the Olds...and why wouldn't they?
Besides Time (lack of) & Money (severe lack of), I'm not real fond of other drivers getting too close to the 442 out on the highways and byways
