29th Annual Peach Blossom BOPC - Atlanta 4/23-24
I am not affiliated with this but I did just register, sounds like it's going to be a fun time.
http://peachstateclc.com/events_2010.htm
April 23 & 24, 2010: Our Club will host the 2010 BOP&C Show this coming April 23rd and 24th 2010. We need your help to make this the most successful BOP&C to date. If you remember the Grand National we hosted in Savannah 2007 you have an idea of what goes into an event like this.
We have arranged a block of rooms at the host hotel the Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center located just off the square in Marietta. Use the code BOPC to get the approved room rate of $89 per night and make a weekend of it. Contact the Hotel, 770-427-2500 for reservations and join us Friday night at the Hotel for the opening event reception and party. The show starts at 11AM Saturday morning with awards given at 2PM.
There will be live demonstrations, new cars, a DJ spinning Classic Rock and Roll as well as Drawings, Goodie Bags for paid participants, Food/Drink, 25 different awards given and a host of other activities. Oh, and don't forget the most fantastic Automobiles from the General's stable of Buicks, Oldsmobile's, Pontiac's and of course Cadillac/LaSalle!
Open this link; www.peachstateclc.com/bopc.doc to print your reservation form and send it in today. If you can help please contact either Lewis Schwartz; LHS36@aol.com
or Martina Butler; martina.butler@gmail.com. We are counting on you!
Don't forget to order your 2010 BOP&C show shirt. This shirt was especially designed for us by noted car show designer Cory Correll. Cory does design work for major show events around the Country. The shirts are $20 each and should be ordered at the same time you mail in your registration form. There will be a VERY LIMITED supply of these so don't miss the opportunity to get yours today!
Also join us Friday Night at 7PM for a Kick Off Party and Reception with Food and cash Bar. Friday Night Party is $20 per person and can be purchased using the Registration Form.
So book a room, join us for the Friday Night Kick Off Party, maybe take home a Trophy on Saturday and make a weekend of it. There is a world of things to do at this location just off the Marietta Square. The Hotel offers a Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, Fitness Room and the City Club, 18 Hole Championship Golf Course. Not to mention all the other things to do on and around the Historic Marietta Square and Kennesaw Mountain.
Start your Spring off right and join us in April!

Well, yeah.... a trophy would be nice too!!! But I'll settle for a t-shirt or tank top! I wish I could go. I can't wait for show season - to get out and look at the cars... and enjoy the sun! I would be afraid to drive her to Gawja.... that's a long ways!

Used to try to get to that show every year, but since someone in Corporate decreed that spring will be outage season and no one can take vacation, I guess I won't get there again till I retire. I'd hesitate taking any of my cars on a road trip like that right now too.
Cory did the 1995 and 2000 National Meet shirts and promotional artwork, as well as for dozens of eastern Oldsmobile zone shows. He's done work for Buick, Riviera Owners, Cad-LaSalle and other clubs. He does a limited run of Christmas cards every year too.

Three cars?
One way to increase your odds of getting an award I guess?
Participant judging I take it?
Hitting that 20 buck party Friday?
My party would be a keg of beer, a box of wine (for those who swing that way) and a few pizzas on the tailgate of the Vista Cruiser. Ten bucks, cash bar, bring your won cup.

mine is white - Atlanta is 12 hours, exactly 1/2 to Dearborn.
I can do 12 hours easily in my car, in fact I look forward to it!
Intermediates must get tiring after 7-8 hours, not sure --->
And poor Sandy has so much on her mind right now what with those aftermarket bolts and the ill fitting trunk mat I hope she's ready in time for the May 2 dust-off, she seems calm but it's only 2 weeks away!

Actually Blue,
I've never been to dis show and no I ain't about to go to Corn Cobb County and have a drink. Dat means no Friday party.
I like my life outside the jail. We're gonna go over Saturday a.m. and go home to celebrate. Dis area of town ain't no place to party. Don't wanta go on "vacation and leave on probation."
Olds buds BEWARE CORN COBB County is not de place to party.

Nice to meet ya jeffrey, Come again but don't bring the lightening.
Well we had a small winder of opportunity and took [rather Donny and Bill took] the drop top and the Vista. I'm glad I opted not to take the 69 H/O
Got to chat wit Jeffery betwix lighting and deluges. Very nice guy and we talked about boats and Bimini.
Saw good ole Joe F. [The hardy perenial at H/O shows], James N. With his red 442 drop top and John B. with his silver SX drop top and sum dude with a vera nice W-31 that I never met.
Alot of nice cars and pleuthora of nice goats Goats, assorted Caddys and Buicks
All in all nice show and good turn out considering the very crumy weather.

A second front started arriving so Donny, Bill and I had a "Flash of sanity" and decided we didn't want to hold trophies as lighting rods and beat feet towards home. I'm glad we did, It really sho nuff got nasty. Jes as we were leav'in.
If I had to guess, I'd say the below W-31 was one of the better cars there. But I liked them all.
Sorry, I didn't take more pics. The weather was really aweful.

Thanks for the pics, Jamesbo! What beautiful cars! Thats a shame about the weather. It stormed here today on & off with high winds late afternoon. I did get The Prettiest One out for a spin though! She liked it!!
Is that your 442 engine in the last pic?? with the nice black bolts, LOL?? Did you win a trophy?

great time, I don't think we had one minute of no rain once it started. Jim great meeting you, wagon is cool!
tons of pics here
got a couple awards too - not sure how I got first in class when the class was filled with unbelievable Cadillacs and Buicks (full-size convertibles)
man that day was rough, missed a spin out and head on 85N just ahead of me by less than a minute
luckily I got to friends before they did and snagged the carport
just got in after 10 hour trip home - car was perfect.
Great time, will be back next year, met a ton of great people, 1st class show all the way.

Geeze Louise,
That was a close call. Glad you and your car made it.
Congratulations on the trophy. You got yourself one cool car.
We left early and the bottom fell out. Both Olds [the 442 drop top and the Vista] were fine but my Frigg'in Suburban ignition got sum water in it sum how and went "Tango Unifrom" in the center lane of the middle of the the 8 lane parkway.
Thankfully, it restarted in about a minute and a half. [Felt like a year]
and I made it home.
I don't think we've got any members from Marietta so I can say this without gett'in slammed. Driving in that area of Atlanta is like try'in to drive around Mars. I hate it. and the rain'in and flood'in it made it all the worse.
