white letter or whitealls...69 442

What looks better on this car ...whitewalls or white letter tires? Help me decide.

Does anyone have a pic of a trophy blue 69 with redlines?
thanks
tim

White lettered or redline for me,don't care for the whitewall.

The important question here is...what do you like best?

You could get pinstripe white or red walls, or later in the year white letters.

I've gotten to where I like the pinstripe white tire as well as anything, simply because most people will go for the white letter. The whitewall is refreshing as well as correct for the car, and not the same old same old.

But as always, your car, your preference.

I would go with white letter. White walls look good on big cars but are out of place on a Cutlass.

I'd say redlines if the car was black, white, or grey. I'd stay away from the raised if you want to be fashion forward, I'd go with whites. IMHO.

Personally, I vote for the redlines. But the RWL tires were the up and coming style in '69 and I believe the most popular at the time. Most everybody wanted the latest, and the RWL was the latest!
But our views now are in retrospect, and what looks appealing now may differ. Like Raider says, the thin whites look good because you don't see them that often.
But really, who cares what someone thinks! Do what *you* think looks good. I can't see me saying "Yeah, I don't like them, but everyone else does so that's what I got......". But I can think of an exception, that being if you know what the car actually came with. I don't really like the whitewalls on my Jetstar 1, but that is what it came with, so I keep them.

I think the white letters make the car look more aggressive, but don't know if that is what you are going for.

Redline or white letters. Whitewalls are for cruizers not muscle cars.

Tires

I'm at a fork in the road! The tires on my 72 Cutlass "S" are 14" Goodyear Eagle ST's. The problem is that they are now 15 years old and I drive some considerable distances to shows at highway speeds. The car has achieved all AACA awards up to and including Senior Grand National with those tires and I'm afraid that if I buy the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 RWL tires to replace them, I may not even make Repeat Preservation at AACA. On the other hand, original 14" Polyglass Goodyears cost $175.00 each while the Firestone Radials cost $75.00 each. Whatever choice I make, I'm stuck with it for awhile.

if you gonna keep it stock appearing and that whats you like I would go with the whitewalls, if your after the more aggressive look of the Muscle Car then go with the white letters.

BUT MOST OF ALL GO WITH WHAT YOU WANT TO RUN, not what everyone else is
