smells like a dead mouse in the 72 cutlass!
i just started the car for the first time in 3 months and it smells like a dead mouse real bad. i can't find where it is but i did find where it got in. there is a spot by the antenna cable that is not there and has a hole big enough for a mouse. i found no damage but how do i get the smell out. i figure that it will just have to air out when the weather gets better. any ideas? i had poison out all winter and none of it had ben eaten. i guess i would rather die in an Oldsmobile than eat poison also

If you think the mouse is inside the car dead ya better look for it. It will stink for a very long time and so will anything its laying on. The barn find I just got had a dead but still juicy mouse in the trunk on the metal pan. Talk about stink, and after it was removed I tried to clean the metal....still stank and finally painted 3 coats of paint over the spot and its 99% gone!

I got a story about rodents, and not mice!!! I had noticed my rearseat had been chewed off of but I didn't see any cushion inside the car!!! Well I didn't have any hood hinges at the time so I was putting some on and dropped 1 down in the fire wall, no big deal!!! So I'm digging around in there feeling around and what do you know, I get a handful of seat cushion!!! My mind must have really been on that pin cause I stuck my arm back in and this time came up with more cushion!!!!
And a dead possoum, just a lil fellow but scared the *%#¥ outta me!!!

Had one die in the back of the heater box in a 63 Olds. Couldn't find it for years. Smelled horaible ever time I fired it up in the winter. Can't beleive.so much stink could come out of such a small critter and last for so long. You gotta get that thing out of there befor it seeps in to the pours of your car and becomes part of it... There is a very caustic chemical reaction that occures when one of these things decomposes...
I found a dead one in the corner in the garage 8 years ago and the skeleton pattern etched on the concrete floor still remains!
Find it and eliminate it! Use the dog method if needed.
Of course my neighbor's shitzu failed to find the live skunk hiding in his garage. That was a total fiasco before it was over...

Find out what they used to get the smell out of that '57 Corvette . You know the one that the guy died in and it was months before they found him then nobody wanted the car because of the smell and his sister sold it to a kid for a hundred bucks.
Fireman are the guys that traditionally clean up that kind of stuff, do it on the job and on the side, somebody has to.
Shitzu?.. that isn't even a dog.
The skunk would be better at finding a dead mouse, or open the window and the flies will find it.
Get a Ferret and it will ferret the thing out.

Tell me about it.
They have 2 cats also and they rule the house. The "dog" only eats cat food and when I am over there saying "here, kitty, kitty", only the "dog" comes running.
I never knew ferrit was a verb....

Had rats living in the walls of a house we lived in growing up....one died in there...was the worst smell ever! Our dog did eventually take care of the dead rat, and the live ones.......he tore holes in the walls everywhere! Pulled every last rat and even the dead one out! Great dog! Shitty house....good thing it was only a rental in the 'hood!

Anyway after using the product as directed (well almost) after a week there is a noticeable difference in odor. I would recommend it. Apparently it kills any odor causing bacteria. Whatever it does, it is working for me.

Well, I unwrapped my '69 from it's winter storage cocoon yesterday only to find mouse droppings and a wicked smell that wasn't vintage
Keep in mind, when I packed it away in November, I filled every nook and cranny with bounce sheets. So much for that idea Oh yea, as I was unpacking the car, one little rascal ran away as I was watching
No visible damage found yet but I'm still looking.
After washing the exterior to remove mouse foot prints and other "stuff", I proceeded to search for remains and found a carcass under the rear seat. Cleaned and vacuumed the remains and nesting and "febrezed" the entire interior. We'll see how it is in a week.
I HATE them meeces to pieces

How do you think they got inside? I always wonder about that. I would not think the windows would be left down or doors open.

I never could figure out how them meeces get into cars
The '69 was buttoned up tight and fully bungi wrapped with plastic tarps all around. There was a small hole chewed through the tarp on the bottom but beyond that, I have no clue where they chose to enter the car. I've used pepper spray, moth *****, Irish Spring, and Bounce towels now to no avail. Anyone out there have any other ideas???

I have parted lots of cars and the only 3 spots I have found critter homes is the engine side of the heater core ( almost every car), and in all seats , once in the headliner , these must be the prime real estate in cars.I watched a mouse crawl down a 1/4 " hole in my porch so if they really want in they will get in.

We've come full circle. When I first joined this site we were talking about mice getting into Oldsmobiles. I posted this pic back then & I'll do it again....cos I like it.
Maybe if Oldsmobiles in storage were dressed up as big mice, the little ones would keep the heck away from the shed.
