They did it to me again...
And I keep telling meself no more high end collectible diecasts... and then they do this.

Ordered mine this afternoon. There's some inaccuracies in their description and flyer, but anytime an Olds diecast comes out, I generally have to have it. Even though D-M models are expensive, they ARE cheaper than the real ones and take up a lot less room. I bought a bunch of 1:24 and 1:18 scale display cases at Ollie's Bargain Outlet last weekend so there's something dustproof to keep 'em in.

That's a ton of cash for a 1/24th scale car. But to tell the truth I have more in my diecast collection than I do my wagon. Enjoy it when it arrives. I love all of mine. Here is my large case.

Mailer also yapped about the "1948 Super 88". I told the lady taking my order that only true Olds-heads like me would notice stuff like that, but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker as far as getting the model.

One of the best cars I ever owned was a 1960 Chevy BelAir 4d sedan that I paid the grand total of $125 for in 1978. Put a battery in it and drove it close to 40,000 miles with little to no trouble, then sold it to a buddy's kid brother for $200. Bruce drove it to high school and college for three years and put another 30-40,000 on it before the old cast-iron PowerGlide finally quit.
And then damned if I didn't give Danbury $129
for a copper 60 Impala hardtop last year.
One thing I remember about that BelAir was the fuel gage was the old style that when it showed empty, it meant it. None of this 3 gallon reserve like later cars had. Bruce had trouble with that aspect of the car...

Does anyone have Danbury's white 1970 442 pace car convertible?
I figured that will be the closest I will find to my car.
If so, how does it look? The 'big' picture on their website is only an inch long, so i cannot see what I would be buying.
If I get it, i hope I will not get addicted like some of you all - I do not have the space...

Diecast Cars
I purchased my Rallye 350 several years ago from GMP. I think the quality is better and their current average price for a 1/18 is $129.00. I also bought their 70 Pace Car, their 72 442 Convertible, and their 66 442. They seem to have an impressive line of Olds Models. Lane Exact Detail also has a pretty thorough selection. (See Below)

A couple of months back, I went to a garage sale where there were about 20 Danbury Mint and Franlin Mint cars for sale at $5 each (these cars were in mint condition). I was fortunate enough to get 10 of them, before others grabbed them up (it was like a giant feeding frenzy). At the time I purchased them, I had no idea of the cost or what they were really worth - but knew from the quality they were certainly worth more than $5 each. Looking back I think that someone may have gotten tired of their collection or perhaps a person died and the spouse didn't want it taking up the space anymore.
These die-cast cars are sure a thing of beauty and well worth getting a show case for. Have since added to my collection a few Olds die-cast models. Sure like the Olds Woody on the DB site.

That Danbury Mint model looks pretty nice in the pic they show on the website.Is there any place to see pics of the interior,engine compartment and chassis? Does the trunk open also?
I don't have any Danbury Mint models.
I do have some Lane Exact Detail cars and am very happy with the quaility and detail.

A few years ago I bought 2 of these and opened one for me and kept the other one...Drive like 3 hours to get them. They are pretty detailed with working steering everything opens folding seats and the boot comes off and you can put the top up (or in this case on)
I still have one in the box if any one wants to buy it

My last "big" die cast purchase was in Oct of 2009, at the Hemming Motors Gift shop (I got a Ertal 1962 Starfire).
When I guess, $11.95 for the 1:18th 1957 98 Starfire is a steal, at Bjs Wholesale!
