Time for a new car for the wife.
My wife's car is nearing the end of it's life. It has been very good. It is a 2006 hyundai sonata, with a 5 speed manual. My wife loves manual trans, but good luck finding a mid sized sedan with one now. Car has 215,000 miles, the suspension, steering and tires are shot and the clutch is starting to slip. Oh well. Not sure what we will do, going to take our time, Probably look for something 2 or 3 years old with not many miles. Maybe find that rare Accord with a manual trans but not holding my breath. From what I have read it is the only mid sized sedan with a manual trans.

I hear ya about the manual transmission. Back in 2006 the wife bought a Volvo wagon and had to special order manual trans (V70R, 300 hp turbo, 6 speed Getrag, All Wheel Drive, active suspension, Brembo discs all around). Turns out there were a total of 377 manual trans wagons imported into all of North America that year, and they are much sought after by enthusiasts these days. I have been driving it for the past many years and I don't have a clue what I would replace it with if I needed to get another daily driver. Good luck in your search.

Toyota ceased the manual Camry in 2010 or so due to low sales. I remember I was working in bodyweld for a few weeks during training, and the monitor would flash "M" in huge letters when the system wanted a manual firewall. This was like 3 times a shift, that's it.
The only manual Toyotas are some Tacomas (mine is one) and some of the Scions. I'd look at Subarus and certain Cadillacs for manual trans.

Vagons are pretty rare.
Stick cars are even rarer.
Only made for 3-4 years 2011-14 and are still $45K+ for a decent used one.
$65K+ for really nice low mile stick.car.
Here you go !

OP, look into a Mazda 6. Still have sticks thru 2018 (gone in 2019)

I will check out the corolla, mustang is a no go because it needs to fit a car seat for our granddaughter. Subaru might be a possibility if I can find one with lower miles that they don't want a fortune for. Just starting to look right now.

I'm in the same boat. I have a '10 Ford Fusion with a 6spd stick. It's coming up on 200k & mechanically it's fine(one of the nicest driving cars I've ever owned)but the Ohio rustbelt cancer is catching up with it. The rockers have rusted & the "dog-legs on the quarters are starting to pop. 2015 was the last year for a stick in the Fusion & that was a special order. I'm thinking of getting a new Ranger but no sticks are available in those There are rumors that the new Bronco will be available with a stick next year. Hell you can't even get an F150 with a stick anymore!!! I work at the huge Ford truck plant in Avon-lake Ohio. We make E350s all the way up to F750s. No sticks in any of them, all autos!!!!!!

Larry, you might consider a Kia Soul. They are available with a manual transmission and have a decent amount of room. My wife has one with an automatic and it has plenty of room for two kids in the backseat with a full car seat and booster seat. My friend also has an older one with a manual. Actually, I was considering getting one with a manual to commute back and forth to work (68 miles round trip). The only problem is that the 2020 Kia Souls are priced out of this world with the large Inline4. Why spend $24k on a fully loaded Kia Soul when you can get a CUV like the Kia Sorento with a v6 for the same price?

I had one as a rental with the base engine. It was fine up to 60 mph but any faster & it sounded like a coffee can full of pennies.
IDK if the bigger engine is available with a manual.
Someone I know has a Jetta with a manual, but the car has had a ton of problems.

Cousins have a Subaru and really like it. Test drove a 17 elantra with a 6 speed. Drove really nice but was not what we wanted. We really like the size of the sonata. May look at one on Monday. Only problem with Subaru is I don't like the local dealer and another is to far away.

Consider a Subaru Impreza. Nice fun sedans with manual transmissions. The Subaru brand has a good following and pretty reliable drivetrains.

Well I think we are going to get a Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Going to look for one 2 to 3 years old and less than 50,000 miles. Seem to be a fair amount with 6 speed manuals. Going to try to avoid white and black for exterior colors. Used but not abused is the trick.

Neat little hot hatchback.

By the way, they are available with a manual transmission.

If you consider the Hyundai Accent don't disregard the Kia Rio. They are the same car. My wife and I bought the Kia Sorento over the Hyundai Sante Fe because it was cheaper. I don't think Kia has a counterpart to the Hyundai Veloster but the Rio and the Forte are both hatchbacks.

3 cars ago, I had a '14 Accord Sport 6 speed DD. That was a pretty "fun" car that got great MPG and was comfortable for 4 with good storage. Not sure if the new ones still have a manual option or not.

Well after looking around for several months, looking at a lot of cars that were not it for different reasons. Found a 2016 Mazda 3 with a 6speed manual and sunroof also certified. Wife likes it so good to go. Will get some pics up soon. Traded in the Sonata at 221,000 miles.
