Question for a Hurst Dual Gate Expert

Did Olds Dual Gate Hurst Shifters ever have the vertical etched line on the chrome stickshift like the one in this picture? The etched line on the stickshift would line up with applicable gear on the console gear indicator. For example, if you put the shifter in Drive, the etched line on the stickshift would line up with the D on the console gear lens plate.

I've seen a couple of these at swap meets. Did Olds ever use them as factory installed?

Thanks. Doesn't the GTO have a straight stick, though? This one is curved.

The GTO shifter does have a straight stick and the lower housing is different also. Your shifter looks correct for the 70-72 Cutlass/442. It also looks like this one on eBay that says it’s correct for 70-81 Camaro/Firebird. The Camaro shifter appears to not have the indicator line though.

My shifter does have the indicator line, unfortunately I am not sure of the original application as I bought it used and converted my console.

Anyone have a 1970 Factory installed W-26 Dual Gate that has the Gear Indicator line on the stickshift?

I have a 1970 W-30 with Dual Gate that appears to be Factory installed. It does not have the Gear Indicator line on the stick.

I have one. Never noticed a line on the shaft, but I will look at it after work today to be sure.

I verified that my 1970 W-26 option Hurst Dual Gate shifter does not have the line on the side of the shaft.

Note in the thread below that the aftermarket Dual Gate has the line. From this information, I would conclude that the original shifter handles did not have the line and the aftermarket shifter handles did.

Yeah, that's what I've found Kenneth. Everything I've been able to find so far about the factory installed 1970 Olds W-26 (probably all '70-'72) shows no shift indicator mark on the stickshift
