Restoring the texture on an aluminum intake
I have a Edelbrock Performer 455 manifold on a motor that I would like to remove the 455 lettering and recreate a texture like the surrounding surface. How would I go about this? Is there any way to just do the quarter size spot where the 455 was removed? I'd like this to be invisible if possible.
Thanks

If I were to attempt this, I'd start with a grinding burr in a die grinder. Next, some work with a medium grit cartridge roll and finally finish with abrasive blasting, probably sand or a similar product. It might need to be done on the entire surface of the intake to look uniform. Keeping uniformity of the as cast texture appearance would be the goal.

Tape off around the area with a TRIPLE layer of adhesive tape that you are going to remove material. If the die grinder gets away from you, "no marks".
When you get down close, use one layer of adhesive tape, and use a "Mill Bastard" file to smooth it, using the adhesive tape as a guide.
Use a 1" or 2" "Rol-loc" (3M) 280 grit sanding disc to blend. A right angle die grinder is easier to control at this point.
Use large media (round sand/glass beads size230) with 40-50 psi air pressure to "re-texture" the area and fade into surrounding area.
........Just my two cents worth.
