Smile Holley 2 barrel swap with pics

Hey Folks,
Just wanted to share in case there was anyone interested in doing this swap. My Rochester 2 barrel was acting up, so I decided to go Holley as I know they are pretty reliable and punchy. All I can say is WOW, what a difference. I am extremely pleased with how it performs. Keep in mind, it's a 250hp 2 speed mostly stock car. It now has more responsive bottom end, and really nice throttle response. It has made the car far more enjoyable to drive. I did not hook up the choke yet, but I was able to use the factory throttle cable with no issues. You will need a mount to connect the cable to carb. I found one in my parts drawer. As well, you will need an adapter plate on the intake, as well as the hot air choke cover plate. I will be replacing the chrome open element air cleaner with a black double snorkel and Cutlass Rocket 350 nameplate to an give original look. I'll have to add and air breather vent cap on the rocker cover for now. Here are some pics of before and after....

Very nice. I am thinking about changing the intake manifold (after market) on my dads car to accommodate a four barrel Holley. I'll keep all the old parts in case we want to see the car later down the road.

Great pics, thanks.

Which Holley? I did this on a Ford 302 recently and it sucks at speed. Stumbles everywhere.

Thanks for the comments guys. I used a new Holley 2300 #4412S from Summit. Worked perfectly from the get go. All I had to do was set idle speed. You can buy an electric choke add on as well.

That was done a lot back in the day, either a Motorcraft or Holley 2 barrel replaced the Variable Venturi carbs. It seemed any carbs that Ford had that got good mileage failed and was replaced with a gas sucker like these Holley 2 barrels.
