How stupid am I?
I have a 1972 Cutlass Supreme. For the life of me I cannot get the bulb out of the trunk light assembly. I have the assembly in my hand and just can't get the bulb out. I don't want to wreck the assembly. Is it hot melted into the assembly? I just cannot believe I can't replace a damn bulb.

If it's the type that mounts to underside of deckllid, have you taken the metal cover off? Snap it off and bulb should be easy to access. Use latex gloves so you don't damage yerself if the bulb breaks.
The ones that mount on the hinge can be a PITA.

If it is the correct light for your car I use a small flat screw driver or if you have a small hook tool that will work to get under the metal part of the bulb & pry it out. It should not be the kind where the bulb pushes down & turns, that is the 1969 & older style.

This! WD 40 or electronics cleaner should clean out the 40 years of grime keeping the bulb in the socket. When you install a new one you can use a little di-electric grease so when your kids replace that bulb in another 40 years it won't be a pain to remove.
