Hose and vacuum line stripes
What is used on rubber hosed to make the stripes? Is it ink or is it paint? If it were paint I would think it would come off easy but most I have played with will not come off. Any ideas? They don't make hoses with the correct stripes for my Jetfire so I am going to have to make my own.

I think there were 3 different techniques used. Paint, ink, and molded type striped hoses like the heater and AC type vacuum hoses. Some hoses now like Inlines are paint, they flake and crack when bent. You need a special ink for rubber, that's how the repro rad hoses like Fusicks are done. Striping you would want ink, but I don't know how you would do it...maybe a Buegler striper tool? Ink is the best if you can get the right stuff. Paint will work but may not last. Unless, there's a special paint out there.

I use one shot and a roller pinstripe tool to make mine. You can get it at any auto paint store it comes in small cans
works well and dries nice as long as you thin it a little bit. Testors model paint will work too but will crack if you take it on and off too many times.

One Shot is paint. One Shot is what sign painters and pinstripers use. I know I have a friend who got some yellow ink someplace to stamp codes and part #'s on rad hoses. He did some for my GS and they have held up great! I don't know where he got the ink. Good art stores carry One Shot, too.
