Convertible top motor

I need to remove the convertible top motor on my 65 Cutlass. According to the Service manual it states to lubricate the rubber grommets before removal. Exactly how do the grommets lift out of the floor area? I don't want to damage the rubber grommets.

Grommets

In my experience, the original grommets were brittle an broke during removal. I'd plan on replacing them. A little oil or dishsoap applied to the grommets help to ease the install. Also, my grommets were hollow, and I stuck an allen wrench inside to stretch them out and push the rubber into the mounting holes.
