Jack color ??

I suspect it depends upon which manufacture of jack you have. With my '68 and '69 4-4-2 convertibles, I have two of the 4 different brands of jacks that were offered for those years. My '68 jack (Lansing car) is a grey color whereas my '69 jack (a Fremont car) is black.

Here are the jacks for my Lansing '68 (gray) and Fremont '69 (black) 4-4-2 convertibles. I should point out that, with the black jack (the base was also black), the cradle was still gray. I don't know if the different assembly plants used one of the four different jack suppliers, or if it was simply whatever was available at the time. You can clearly see that these two jacks are different in the way the vertical post is designed. The bases for each jack are different as well, built to accommodate the post.
