air breather

hello
I have just recently switched carbs from a holley to a quadrajet.
I have a 73 olds cutlass 350 with a stock air breather ever since I went back to the quad inside the breather has been getting very hot. Just seeing if any one else has experienced this problem. Its getting hot enough to burn all the paint inside off onto the air filter? thx Brian

Can you post a picture of the breather? Did you shine a light through the snorkel, or use a mirror to make sure the flap inside is working properly? I didn't know they could get hot enough to burn paint, sounds like something is wrong. Good luck

The one vacuum line on the underside of the breather is not hooked up?
