Wow, I wonder if that might be an aftermarket or dealer installed item?

It makes sense to include a screen in the oil fill tube, but I've never seen one or heard about one.

I'm guessing it's aftermarket? I've never seen one, either. Frankly, why would you need one? Is what you pour down that tube anything other than fresh oil straight out of the container you brought it home from the store in? How likely is that to have contaminants at all, let alone contaminants large enough to be trapped by that screen?

Another question is, does that screen come out? If it actually should ever trap something, how do you clean it? Reach inside with something like a pair of tweezers?

Also, it's hard to tell from the photo, but how far down into the tube is the screen? If it's too close to the top, it could be difficult to get a funnel or the top end of the oil bottle into the tube if you're one of those, like I am, who upends the bottle and leaves it in the fill tube until it's good and empty.

I never like to try to pour it free-hand, because I always miss and get a little around the edges or on the sides of the tube, just like whoever is doing it in this photo did.

It’s a nice cone slide in just below where the cap stops.

It kind of looks like that screen that goes in the hot air stove pipe on the 70-72 cars, but the diameter would be too big, and I believe the mesh is too coarse to be that part.
