Mecum; 70 SX W32 Conv
Well, It's going to Mecum Indiana next month!
I know many think my asking price was insane and no offense taken! And weather it gets close to that at Mecum or not is to be seen. There are a lot of fees involved so I know what I end up with may be a lot less than what I've been trying to get. My car has had a very high value to ME, but not more than life! And it has thrown some big curves at my wife and me.
Of course I hope to get as much as possible, but one thing, as a SX enthusiast I hope for, is that the selling price will drive up the value of all fellow SX owners cars! They deserve to bring a higher value!!
That being said; give me some guesses as what you think it will get up to?
I know they will be no more than opinions and I WILL Not be offended!
Dale
PS. I have it here in Cars for Sale

A beautiful car in a desirable color combination. I have no idea what kind of money it will bring, I'm much better (IMO) at pricing cars that need a lot of work
Good luck w the sale

First off, These cars ARE undervalued... That is the beauty for working folks like myself that can see that they are (especially with a W32 option), a 344 vin car without the associated tag.. Your color options with a W25 are in my opinion perfect. I have seen another trip-black '70 needing a complete resto at the '06 nationals, but lacked the factory issue W25. I had a straight/solid numbers 70' hardtop in reef turquoise/pearl for 17 years needing a total resto.. After all of those years, I realized that if I were to do a concourse restoration I'd have a car worth 2/3 of the financial commitment not considering my countless hours of personal labor. Granted, a drop top helps your cause exponentially, not to mention again colors and W25, and W32! I mean really, it is in effect a factory W25,442.....in triple black...but,.. Not quite.. You need to get the attention of the right two individuals, with appreciation for the rarity of your car and more importantly the disposable financial means to make it happen. I will guess $29,7K,...but I sincerely hope that I'm proven wrong. I hope that you clear $75K after paying Mecum! It is a spectacular car!

If I was filthy rich and was into oldsmobiles and after looking at that car, I would prob go as high as 40k, maybe a bit more? I think you may find someone looking at auction to score a deal around 30? I also think about 75% of buyers look at it from an investment perspective also? maybe not to increase in value but at least hold its value, unless you find the other 25% guys who don't care about that and even less like oldsmobiles. Small niche for those cars though.
I think your best bet is the marketing to the Oldsmobile crowd in every way possible and detailing the current condition.
I truly hope you get what you need and more GLWS.

Great car, and as FUNK said I think they are way way undervalued. Looking at that car in today's market it SHOULD be a $65k - $80k car but the SX's are just under appreciated. Saying that, at an auction, you should get 50K plus if you ask me. Heck, it would cost more to buy a car half that good and make it that nice.
In the end, all these cars are overpriced if you ask me.

Well, it sold for $82,500!
Thanks to all those who supported the car and I really hope it sets a precedent for all the other SX owners out there! They deserve there spot!
