Englishtown to end drag racing
Its sad that they have forgotten their roots. One of the best tracks in the NHRA.

Dayum !
I recall the summer of 1968 and being there for Wednesday night racing.
My 16 year old stepbrother, my girlfriend and I made a "tour" of the east coast in my new 1968 Hurst/Olds. It had 600 miles when we left home and 3,600 when we returned. We pooled our last $3.30 to buy gas to make it home from Illinois.
We ventured from Iowa to visit Motion Performance, Berejik Olds, Englishtown Raceway, Grumpy Jenkins shop, and a Division 1 NHRA points meet in York, PA. We helped Beebe & Mulligan service their AA/Fuel dragster in the hotel parking lot.
Wonderful memories....

Sad. Other then reading about the track and meets there in late 60s, I am not familiar with the track. Seems like they could make a few bucks of opening the track a few times a year for nostalgic racing, inviting those classes from around the US.

Very sad day
I too am very saddened to hear that drag racing is gone at Englishtown I have been there many many times and raced my '69 W-31 for my first drag race there. End of an era to say the least!!!!

I know newly built homes are encroaching on the long ago established race track and there are complaints as well as law suits. Seems to me drag racing popularity is going away. I would imagine insurance costs are insane. The decision to keep all open except for drag racing there is probably a money thing and most likely the beginning of the end for Raceway Park Englishtown.
