th400 duel gate shifter holder

70 th 400 have a hurst duel gate.
The shifter will not go into 1st
the bracket on the transmission seems to be too short for the correct shiftier/ cable.
Does the auto / duel gate have a different bracket that mounts on the transmission?

No, The brackets are the same, The end of the cable should be adjustable if original equipment.

Johnny

Did you use an aftermarket shift lever on the gear selector shaft?
I did with my DUAL gate and the slot is too short to allow proper adjustment of the cable to get it into low or 1st gear. I took a Dremel to it and lengthened the slot about 3/8 inch

The bracket that is bolted to trans has a nut that can be moved so cable will fit. They make different 400 trans brackets.

the cable I took out is 20 inches apart were the cable bolts up to, with a 30inch total cabel legnth.

the new cable from the parts place is 18 inches , same 30inch total length.

I'm thinking my trans was swaped/ meeting the bracket to hold this cable is too long by 1.5 to 2 inches.

kinda like I have the wrong bracket at transmission.
