.040 over 10.50:1 forged flat tops for W31

So, anyone have these in this bore? (4.097). I looked quite awhile back, and none existed, talked to Arias at the time, and he wanted $1200.00 to make a set with rings and wrist pins. Curious as to whether or not any manufacturer has introduced them.

Have a look at this post for a new piston choice.

I read that when it was posted, the compression is lower that what I want. I am skeptical of the 10-12 hp gain claimed. I do like that 4.100 is right about where I want to be for the bore, as I don't want to go to .060 over if I don't have to. The lightweight is also a plus.

These will be closer to what you want with a better than stock ring pack.

Using high-silicone 4032 aluminum alloy
Aye caramba! No one uses silicone in metallurgy, just as no one uses silicon in breast implants.

Thanks for the replies, I'll take a closer look into these, and the silicone info. Best friend is a senior applications eng. for Mahle, knows a few things about pistons and rings.

I was being sarcastic about their "silicone" statement.
Silicone is a rubber like polymer and silicon is a hard, brittle crystalline element. Totally different things and you don't want to use the wrong one in either breast implants or pistons.

here's a 350 Olds piston for you in a 4.100" (0.043" overbore).

I have no personal experience with this piston but they were discussed on Facebook a few months ago with positive comments.

I know what silicone is. Shows what I know about pistons & metallurgy & pistons, I figured that your silicon(e) spelling differences was an error. i will have to get the specs. on these, as to height compared to originals, and how far that they sit in the hole. I do wonder, not that it makes a difference, as to what these pistons were originally intended for with a 4.100 bore. Is it just to cover many applications?

Contact information for D.S.S. is at the bottom of the page in the link. They are an IL USA based company. The pistons are made in USA.

I believe the bores which are similar to the Mahl pistons Mark help bring to market is for common ring packs size. The KB 403 pistons used goofy oversizes to work with Ford 460 rings. In this case it may be LS bore sizes since the world revolves around it.
