Price for a set of nos 71/72 fenders

I am looking for some input as to the fair market value of a set of 71/72 Cutlass/442 front fenders. Don’t see them for sale very often. I have a set which I plan to eventually use and have owned them for over 25 years. Appreciate your input. Al

$500 for a single NOS fender is what one sold for here in Oklahoma. It sold to a local guy.

Heh. I just coughed up $2,500 for Fusick's pair of NOS fenders, including liftgate freight.

I was going to say $700-$1000. The value of the 71/72 fenders dropped a little when the repros came out.

Isn’t one fender harder to find than the other? Or maybe that was 1970 fenders? I remember reading that somewhere...

rust free 70 fenders are near impossible to find. Never seen an NOS one yet. I seen some listed as NOS but were reworked 71-72 and jacked the price up.

The 1970 fenders were superceded in the parts system by the 71-72 style when those came out.

I know but for a while I was seeing several popping up as NOS 70 only but were reworked 71-72. Many people don't know it but there is an early 70 style, a late 70 early 71 style and a late 71 and all of 72 style and then NOS style. All 4 are different style

Should not say "late 71" style...

The passenger side is the harder side to find. I have sold some pairs for $1,250-$1,300. Ten years ago NOS fenders were fairly easy to find; not so much anymore. The supply is dwindling. To me, market value should be $1,500-$1,600, but I guess if you can get $2,000+ for a pair, why not?

Glad I bought mine when they were still available from GM parts(1993). Paid $164 per side.

wow, these have gotten expensive as well, but they have to be a whole lot better than the repos. Those are not good.

Hi Alain. Not for the 70 W31. Eventually I will put them on my 72 W30 convertible. When my Dad restored the car way back in 1980 he repaired the bottom of each fender. I bought nos fenders and quarters way back in the late 80’s like a lot of other guys. There are enough Nos convertible quarter panels around to establish fair vale but not as many fenders trading hands. I just always wondered what the fenders would sell for. It looks like about $2,000-2,500 for the pair is not out of line. Al

These were hung on the car but never painted other than primer. They weren't in mint NOS condition but were pretty nice. I think I took at little less than they were listed for but don't remember for sure.

Do you know what the differences where, especially the '71 & 72s? I know the original 70's did not have the dimples in the inner channel, but didn't know there where other changes. My '71 VC was a late '71 build (June) and the right fender was replaced, so I'd like to see if its the same as the original left. Thanks!

71 and 72 production fenders are the same but the real early 71's had the same as the late 70 fenders and were flat. The early 70 fenders are the same as the later 70 other than some of the mounting holes are smaller and allow less adjustment. The NOS are the same as 71 and 72 but the back upper mounting brackets are in the wrong location, they still mount ok. There are other things different than this between 70 and 71-2 but these are the most obvious and most well known. When you know all the differences it is easy to tell when fenders have been changed.

I had not heard of differences during the 70 MY before this post. Do you know when the change was made? Would you be willing to post photos of early and late 70 fenders?

Thanks

Picked up an NOS 71 fender a few years back. The upper rear mounting bracket was off. I was not able to mount it w/o relocating the bracket to match my 70 factory fender bracket position. That 71 fender was really off...I am sure some are better than others.
