'57 Olds Dash Question

'57 Olds Dash Question
On each side of the forward portion of the dash there are aluminum trim pieces that were deflectors?? for the defroster. Was there a fabric/final piece that went below these? Assuming there was, purpose? How did they attach? Anyone have a picture of one? Parts book show anything?
