Was there such a thing as a Chevy only pattern 2004R?
The one wrecker has a listing for a Chevy only pattern 2004R out of a 1986 Caprice. My understanding is no such trans exists but we have all sort of stupid combos up here. I will call them tomorrow to confirm. Was the 700R4 an option that year? I just got a TH200 sent from my local wrecker, not even a lock up. He found his only 2004R in the yard with a pan full of chunks. So the search continues for Dr Olds Mileage Machine. It only needs to live behind a 260 for Pete's sake.

I have heard rumors of a Chevy-only 200-4R case but have never seen one. I do know that the early 200-4Rs were BOP-only. By 1986 ALL 200-4R cases were unisex. I suspect that person is thinking of a 700R4.
Here's the BOP-only version.

It is actually listed as a 86 Chevy Caprice 5L, Chevy pattern 200 with od in "A" condition on their site. The BOP dual pattern is shown as a core. From what I found online, a 700R4 is possible. I could get an adapter for a good transmission. I would buy the better adapter this time. I know where a couple of others might be. I want to get this done before the cold settles in.
