70 cutlass exhaust manifold cross over - block off plate

Where can you get an exhaust manifold cross over cap at a reasonable price (I have seen some for $65 and for that I will just put the home made cap back on)..

thanks

Be mindful these plates are thicker than an intake manifold gasket and may require some re-work.

You can make your own capping off the exhaust pipe and using its flange.

X2... Just cut off the crossover pipe as close to the flange as possible to cap it off...

thanks. I have cap on there now, made many years ago via the pipe cut and cap method. I figured someone would have a simple cap on the market now.. for a reasonable price to replace the home made part I have...Based on the costs, I think I will just re-install what I have.

Wow those have gone up in price over the years. I bought one from the local dealership back in 1990 for $6. I think it was about the last one in nation wide inventory as the dealer had to scour the country to locate it.

And the next funny thing is most people can't afford a new house, or a fixer upper, but they can afford a $$$$$$ car! Priorities totally bass ackwards.

Its actually easier to qualify for home mortgage than for a car loan if your credit challenged. Selling cars for 13 years gave me a good insight to how we Americans think when it comes to buying crap we can't afford.

I was under the impression they're a straight bolt on part?? What requires re-working?

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. The one I bought was a thick stamped plate (1/8" or so?) with a recessed center that fit over the opening in the manifold.

I mistook the original post for block off plates used to restrict exhaust gases thru the intake manifold. They are much thicker than most gaskets.
