A/C cars got 3.23 gears but there are a few documented 3.42 geared a/c cars.
Your newly acquired car has 3.42s which is surprising to me. Most that I have seen came with 3.91s when equiped with the T400 and no a/c.

According to all factory literature, the answer is definitely no.
The base rear axle ratio with the W-30 option was 3.42 with either four speed or TH400. Both the Powertrain Booklet and the SPECS booklet show 3.23 as the standard and only rear axle ratio with C60, however I am also aware of the documented 3.42 cars. I've seen some early literature that calls out the 3.42 ratio with C60, so this may have been a change during the model year. The reality is that the difference in engine RPMs at a given speed from 3.23 to 3.42 is only about 6% - not really enough of a difference to matter.

Sorry for the hijack but how was this documented? I have heard this several times over the past 5 years here on CO but I have yet to get anyone to show it to me. Not even sure what document it would be found on? Window sticker maybe?
