Don't see these too often

Not my first choice, what with wrong wheel drive and missing a couple of cylinders, but a convertible is a convertible. 814 Cutlass Ciera convertibles were made by Hess & Eisenhardt/Car Craft over a span of four years (1983-86).

I believe this GM platform was also used for Buick Century and Chevy Celebrity convertibles... At least there were a few various choices for GM convertibles in that time period...

None of those were factory-built. They were all aftermarket conversions like this one.

Which was not the A-body platform. The Riviera convertibles were done by American Sunroof Corp (who later changed their name to American Specialty Cars). The Eldorado converts were done by Global Coach.

Which was still not an A-body. The J-car Cimarron/Sunbird/Cavalier converts were built by ASC.

Ever wonder why there was never a convertible offered? Low cost production of cheaper chassis, and better power to weight ratio? No demand? (hahahaha) Rather ugly body style (yup) IDK, pick something and go with it.

Take that car.. loose the wire hub caps. SSIII
Now pull the engine trans.. and install the series 2 3800 supercharged.. and 4spd auto
And have a nice fast convert.. That surprise many..

I thought of the Cadillac Allante'. Like the one Robin Williams drives in Cadillac Man. Apparently, it's a V body.
