I liked those cars back in the day. Definitely not the more reliable engine in this one though vs the 3.1. Anyway, I was browsing through the upcoming Mecum Indy catalog and saw this and started wondering why this would even be taken to Mecum. Seems like more of an average public auto auction vehicle.

Because Mecum is in the auto auction business and if that car sells he'll make at 16% of the sale price plus the registration fee. The consignor is probably thinking that the car is relatively old, and is hoping there is a buyer present at the auction, who doesn't really know how much the car is really worth, and is new to the collector car hobby and feels this might be an inexpensive way to join in the fun. I see it all the time at the auctions. If the car sells for more than the reserve, the house is extremely happy because they already have collected their registration fee ($500+ up), the house gets their 8% (or 10%) seller's fee and the house gets their 8% (or 10%) buyer's fee and all parties are happy.....until the new owner finds out he may have overpaid for a 3.1 '93 Cutlass convertible (that could have some hidden problems). I hate to sound cynical, but I bet I'm not far from wrong.

Most likely it's at Mecum because it is only one of an 18 car collection which includes some 50's, 60's and 70's as well as a few other newer vehicles... A lot of money to be made by the auction house...

Yes, it is no reserve. My initial thoughts were you can generally find these a dime a dozen on Craigslist. Not saying it isn't a nice car...just that it is fairly common and not in much demand from what I can tell on the pricing with these during the last 5-10 years.

Because those in high school in 93 that might have wanted one (chick). Are now old enough to have a fun car, So the hubby that has a bunch of cars will please his wife when she says I'd like that..
I doubt it is like those on craig's list.. that are detailed junk.
Also a lot of eye ***** on it, for a gift for daddy's little girl.. for grad.. In a month..

No doubt. Missing pics of the back seat, so I'm out.
Check out the estimate on this Jetfire! Big money car -

Looks like the Oldsmobiles are well represented with some nice variety. Good luck to all bidding/selling there.
