Eric:

It was good seeing you yesterday. It was for sure a longer drive for you this year. Great job on the photos. We had some different cars there this year and some very nice ones. Too bad we didn't have todays weather which is letter perfect.

oldcutlass April 23rd, 2017 04:41 PM

It was great seeing you and your wife again. Actually the drive from Granbury to Gainesville was quite pleasant on HWY 51. No traffic and very scenic although the wind was pushing the car around a bit. I did a MPG check, 10.3, a little better than the 6 its been getting around town. I didn't stay for dinner because I've got cataracts and can't see at all out of my right eye anymore. Supposed to get that fixed next month.
I agree, some very nice cars, some drove a pretty good distance. There was 1 from San Antonio and 1 from Wimberly. Joe dragged the Run to Rund car quite a ways (I forget) also. Joe, I apologize that you needed to wipe my forehead/palm prints off the side windows and the drool off your car and engine compartment, sweet ride.

joesw31 April 24th, 2017 04:10 AM

Thanks for taking and sharing these pictures, there were some really nice rides there!

35tac April 24th, 2017 05:09 AM

Nice cars and thanks for the pictures.

Looks like a great show! Thanks for all the sharp pictures.

Olds64 April 24th, 2017 07:09 AM

Oh man! What awesome cars! I hope I can make it next year.

elira April 24th, 2017 08:17 AM

Eric,

Thanks for sharing the photos! It was a great show.

ART T April 24th, 2017 10:11 AM

It looks like you had a great turn out.

droptopron April 24th, 2017 11:22 AM

Nice show. Any more pics of the Delta with the OAI?

oldcutlass April 24th, 2017 11:45 AM

No I just took the 2.

elira April 24th, 2017 12:12 PM

Joe Donnelly brought it from Henderson, NV. He was in ABQ but moved recently. He's active here: "Run To Rund" handle.

oldcardoc April 24th, 2017 12:27 PM

Thanks for the great pictures....

Run to Rund April 24th, 2017 12:49 PM

Thanks. I am pleased that you like the Rund car; it was a labor of love to re-create this historic race car, and especially gratifying that the original racer (John Molnar) raced it (2007 OCA Nationals) and approved ("this is the car!") Its first show was the OCA Nationals in Texas, 2006. The Rund Motor Co. motto was "Run to Rund for your Oldsmodeal."

elira April 24th, 2017 01:11 PM

Thanks for coming Joe. Great to see you again. Hope you had a good trip back...

Les

Looks like some nice cars. I wish I didn't have to work Saturday. Would have been nice to say hello and catch up with everyone.

CRUZN 66 April 24th, 2017 04:06 PM

Looks like a great turn out... Are they mostly Texas vehicles or were some other states represented besides the 66 Rund car (great vehicle by the way)...
Thanks for sharing the Texas Olds population with us...
On a side note, both my 66 and 67 were originally purchased in Texas, a story for another time...:):)

76olds April 24th, 2017 04:16 PM

Thanks for posting the Pictures Eric, so many nice cars. Nice to see Oldsmobile guys hooking up and having a good day other than the cool windy temps. I wish I lived down that way, I'm getting tired of the winters up here in Canada!!

Eric

Mostly North Texas, there are a few other Texas Olds orgs scattered around the state.

costpenn April 24th, 2017 06:35 PM

Thanks Eric for taking these great looking photos - sorry I did not have more time to talk with you.

Our total car count was 42 on the show field, and at least 6 more cars not being able to attend due to mechanical problems or weather concerns. On Friday night, we had a tornado on the ground about 15 miles south of us in Valley View, and somehow we avoided all damaging hail. In Muenster Texas, another short distance away, they had golfball plus sized stones fall on them. Yikes...

I'm going to be proposing changing our Zone Show date to September or late May in the future - we've had three years in a row of bad weather in April.

As mentioned earlier, Joe Donnelly was the furthest away show entry, but the banquet attendees chose to award the long distance award to some gentlemen who drove their real 69 Hurst all the way from Sandia Peak in New Mexico. The car has a Class 3 hitch on it! We also had attendees from Oklahoma, West, Central, and South Texas.

Special thanks to all the CO members for attending and again sorry for my anti social behavior. I had to direct all the incoming cars to their spots, and then somehow wound up on a judging team that did 13 cars.

oldcutlass April 24th, 2017 06:49 PM

No problem Joe had a great time. I'm sorry I couldn't stay for the dinner, I can't see at night to drive. Hopefully the eye surgery next month will bring my sight back in my right eye.
Your last newly restored project also looked awesome. I also look forward to seeing Heaths wagon when it gets out of paint purgatory.

Funkwagon455 April 24th, 2017 06:54 PM

Although I had come the I35 route, I also ventured back to Parker Co via FM51, I would agree that it was low traffic, picturesque and low stress route all together. Kudos to Joe (and spouse) with the Rock'n Rund car for longest distance as well as Roger Green driving his '69 H/O from Albuquerque... The show is clearly as much about the people as it is about cars. The conversation flows well and pretentious egos are generally absent with this group. I've even managed to get to meet other members while doing parking lot security from 2am-4am.. Thanks for sharing the photos Eric, I did not take the time to shoot even one. I was too busy socializing.. The car that grabbed me the hardest was the '66 tri-power,four speed. What a nice car!:D

oldcutlass May 11th, 2017 02:05 PM

I truly enjoy this show annually, a very knowledgeable and family friendly group. I encourage everyone with/or interest in an Oldsmobile to make it, you will not be disappointed.

dc2x4drvr May 11th, 2017 04:47 PM

Wow, great pics, special thanks for the pics of the '66 tri-power car..awesome!

redoldsman May 11th, 2017 06:01 PM

Here is the link to my photobucket with my pictures from the show. Eric did a nice job and there will be a lot of duplication here. This really is a fun event and one I look forward to all year. A special thanks to all our NTOC members who worked so hard to put this on.
