1968 442 Production numbers

Hi everyone,
Can someone tell me where I can find production numbers for the 1968 442? In particular, I am trying to find out how many convertibles were built in '68 with automatic transmission?

Thanks,
Phil

There were 5,142 convertible 442s built in 1968. I don't think production figures more detailed than this (how many with this or that option or combination of options) exist. Lots of people have asked this type of question. How many were blue and had air conditioning? Or how many Post Coupes had a manual transmission? Records like this were not kept, at least by the factory.

Thanks... Seems like only Pontiac and Corvette held on to the more detailed production numbers.

Some say we had the details but records were somehow lost. Some say burnt in a warehouse fire, some say just lost, you chose. I think just tossed, as who cared back in the late 60s.
Further, VIN 344, 1968, 442 vert breakdown: Of those lucky 5142 vert buyers, 170 were W30s! 127 4 speeds and 43 automatics. We do have some numbers.
I missed out on one of the 127 about 30 years ago when money was tight, triple black car too...gah!

Am I understanding you correctly that only 43 automatic convertible 442s were produced in '68?

Correct, the 43 vert autos were W30s...Total W30 vert production in 68 = 127 sticks + 43 auto =170. No 3 speed sticks.

Out of the 5142 regular 442 verts, 3476, 442 verts were automatics, and 1518 were 4 speeds, 148 were 3 speed sticks.

Nope. Records with that level of detail no longer exist.
