So Im Thinking About Trading My Toronado for... Another Toronado...
Ive got a 1985 Toronado thats pretty cleaned up, the only issue is its roof where the vinyl used to be. There is rust there and nowhere else. I still haven't been able to figure out the trans, adjusting the TV cable doesn't seem to make the trans react how i feel it should so im still tinkering around.
However, ive been given the opportunity to trade my toronado for a 68. Rather than blab on my own version of the details ill just attached the link.

The kid said its his grandpas and hes been working on it with him and apparently lost interest and dont have room for it anymore.
He told me on the side that its got everything, and yes thats a hole near the rear floor of the car. It's got new tires, and needs new brakes and the carb put back on the engine because they cleaned it. Obviously its going to need the floor and seats together.
What do you guys think? Yay or nay?
EDIT:
It apparently has the w-34 engine

i would rather have the 68 but it looks like it might be a money pit to restore it to very nice condition. if you have not been able to start the 68 up and see how it runs and shifts you may have a big project if it needs engine/trans work. body looks pretty nice

Although if you want a project car the 1968 would be a better investment of your time and money. Is it a factory W34 or did someone just install the W34 drivetrain? The cragslist ad pictures shows bucket seats, was the 1968 a factory bucket seat/console car? That sounds much more rare and collectable than the 1985.

I think im going to go take a look at the toronado, just to see how it is in person. I like it much better than the 85 and have come to find out it really isnt all that sought after. Ive always wanted an older one anyways and i olny paid 650 for the 85 anyways. One issue i would like to fix is this darn trans, its got bigger tires than what are supposed to be on there, so the speedometer and trans are off. It doesnt exactly shift fast either. And what i mean by that is when it does begin the process of shifting it takes longer to complete than what i believe it should. Ive adjuated the TV cable several times but that doesn't seem to help its speed of shifting. It does, however, preform much better when accelerating fast.
On another note, ive never had the opportunity to take a look at a car this old considering i might trade a running car for it. So is there anything i should look for?

Actually, to make a long story short, the kid says his mom was showing it to somebody and he "hooked it up wrong" which somehow resulted in totaling the car. What a shame.
