72 Cutlass Sport Mirror Echelon Loop ????

72 Cutlass Sport Mirror Echelon Loop ????
Can someone tell me if this looks right as far as the u-shape loop on the back of the echelon??? Or does it go on the other side?? Either way it seems like it won't latch..
